Unified system of the food safety
The Canadian authorities have decided to introduce a consolidated approach to the control of the safety of food products in the country. The bill which assumes creation of unified control authority and supervision is already developed. Currently the project of creation in the country of the unified monitoring system of safety of the food is available for comment. There are seven different divisions on control of safety of different groups of food in this field in Canada now, which are planned to be replaced by a single system. Seven different structures work while under control of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, CFIA. Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz highly appreciates quality of their work. "Our Government is committed to making food as safe as possible for Canadian families," he said. "The Safe Food for Canadians Act strengthens and modernizes our food safety system to make sure it continues to provide safe food for Canadians.” Safety control of meat, dairy products, eggs; the processed products; imported products and the products made in the country; fresh fruit and vegetables, and also fish and seafood are carrying out by separate structural divisions of the CFIA. Creation of the new system of food safety will require funding of $100 million.
