Unique sculpture rised to view in Toronto
The new hotel was opened in the heart of downtown, at the intersection of University Ave. and Adelaide Street.
Shangri-La Hotel occupies the first 17 floors of the 66-storey tower in the vibrant business and entertainment district. The facade of the new hotel is decorated with unique art installation, named “Rising”. The striking sculpture comprises “peace pigeons” moving up the building’s facade, up to 18 floor, and twisted tree branches that are meant to resemble the body of a dragon. A second sculptural component extends into the hotel lobby. The monument is protected from a possible fire and corrosion by fire resistant paint in the color of steel.
The hotel offers to guests 202 rooms, made in a laconic manner. The walls are decorated with dark wood veneer, but, thanks to the large windows, the rooms are enough light. The rooms provide a pleasant home atmosphere, and a hall is decorated with portraits of the famous divas of the Beijing Opera. There is an entertainment center, where the wide-screen TV and iPad are set.
