Canada: Income from foreign tourists grows
According to Statistics Canada, income from visits of foreign tourists to Canada in the III quarter of 2012 increased by 0.9%, reached $4.3 billion. Tourists from overseas made 1.1 million trips to Canada, which is 1.3% lower than in the last quarter, but their expenses in the country rose by 2.7% up to $2.5 billion.
Profit of Canadian national tourism, brought by US tourists in July-September, was $1.8 billion, which is 1.5% lower than in the previous quarter. The number of trips from the neighboring country to Canada also decreased by 2.2%. As for Canadians, they spent $5,6 billion in the USA during the reporting period, having made 14 million trips to the neighboring country, – the highest rate since 1994. Over the seas, the Canadian tourists left $3,4 billion, increasing their expenses by 0,5%.
